Ressurection
'Resurrection' is woven from torn and cut clothes and jewellery. It uses the formal qualities of painting to re-examine notions of materiality, as well as the deconstruction and reconstruction of meaning through the traditional craft of weaving. The idea of nesting, collecting, keeping and holding on to material possessions is explored in 'Resurrection' through the deconstruction, or destruction, of beloved items of clothing and jewellery. Through the action of ripping, cutting and tearing, old bonds are physically and emotionally broken. Through the reconstruction, the weaving, tying and reworking of the fibres of these once precious items, their memories and significance are given new life.
